Swyft Cares Foundation is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with PIPEDA and Alberta's PIPA.
Note: This privacy policy must be reviewed and finalised by a lawyer before publishing. It complies with PIPEDA (federal) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
1. Who We Are
Swyft Cares Foundation is an Alberta Society. Contact our Privacy Officer at [email protected] for any privacy-related requests.
2. What Information We Collect
Name, contact details, preferred language, community background, mental health concerns shared in sessions, and attendance records. We do NOT collect immigration status or Social Insurance Number (SIN).
3. Why We Collect It
To provide mental health support, to match you with the right counsellor, to improve our programs, and to report aggregate (non-identifying) data to funders.
4. Who We Share It With
Nobody — without your explicit written consent. The only exceptions are: (1) imminent risk of harm to self or others — we follow mandatory reporting obligations, (2) court order — we comply with legal requirements.
5. How Long We Keep It
Session notes: 10 years from last contact (Alberta standard for health records). Contact information: 3 years after last contact. All records destroyed securely after retention period.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to access your records, correct inaccurate information, withdraw consent, and request deletion (subject to legal retention requirements). Contact our Privacy Officer at [email protected] to exercise these rights.
7. Cookies and Website
We use analytics (anonymised) to understand how people use our website. No personal data is collected through cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings.
